Planting & Care of organic garden plants
POT SOIL | For both indoor and outdoor plants, you can use universal organic potting soil for planting and repotting, preferably without peat. You prefer to repot once a year during the growing season. Repotting a small plant? Then choose potting soil of 5L. Some plants do not like a nutrient-rich soil. WITH THE POT INTO THE GROUND | Part of our plants (smallest pot size) are supplied in an unbleached paper pot that can be planted and serves as food for soil life. The pot has been rotted for a few months in the soil, planter or flower pot. Useful! An additional advantage: no plastic residual waste! More info
WATERING | Pants need water, some species more than others. All kinds of factors influence growth and flowering. Such as heat, sunlight, rainfall. But also: is the plant under a roof? In or out of the wind? In a pot or in the ground? We have listed some tips:
- A plant with (still) few leaves needs less water than a plant with many leaves. So do not give every plant the same amount of water.
- If you use a pot, make sure that no water remains at the bottom of the pot. Most plants do not like this.
- Regularly check how the plants are doing. When leaves become withered, the plant is probably not getting enough water. As soon as the leaf starts to droop, probably too much.
- In warm weather above 25°C, you have to be extra careful with plants in pots. Preferably water them every day. At 20 - 25 °C, every 2 days is usually sufficient. At temperatures between 10 and 20 °C, once a week is generally sufficient. Plants in the open ground need less water.
- All our perennials grow and bloom as nature intended, following the seasons at their own pace. In winter the foliage (the greenery) above the ground dies, but not in the ground. It can sometimes seem that the plant is dead, but that is not the case. A healthy plant will simply come back in the spring.
- The most important thing is to check the plants regularly to see how they are doing. Do you have questions? Chat or email us, we are happy to help you!
