Did you know...
is it easy to grow a plant from a seed? Once you know how best to do this, you are sold. Because how fun is it to grow the pit of the avocado that you just used in the salad into your own avocado plant. Make room on your windowsill because you can also grow flower bulbs, tubers and hydroponic plants in water.
Culture dishes
We love the cultivation dishes from Puur Drents . These were handmade and painted in Drenthe by early dementia sufferers. Each bowl is unique!
Follow these steps and you will definitely succeed!
- Carefully peel the avocado pit
- Soak the wick in water for 2-3 days
- Wrap the pit in damp paper towel
- Place the pit in a sealed plastic bag in a bright place for 3-4 weeks
- Change the damp paper 1 to 2 times a week
- When the pit has roots of 1 to 2 cm, you can grow the pit further
- Place the culture dish on a glass filled with water
- Place the pit on the growing dish with the roots in the water
- Change the water once a week
- Add a drop of organic plant food from Botanopia once a week
- Finished! Now we have to wait for the plant to appear
- Once the plant has appeared, you can further grow the plant in water or transfer it to potting soil
Transfer to potting soil
Carefully pull the roots out of the growing dish, spread the roots in the soil and fill with organic potting soil. The plant will first have to get used to the new environment and create new roots. The plant will then continue to grow again.
Have fun growing and enjoy your plants!
